Rule Number Three makes the game interesting

15 Feb

Rule Number Three is a short film (12 minutes) starring Nicolas Hoult (Matt) and Imogen Poots (Rachel) where a couple plays Scrabble in an English Pub. Instead of talking to each other, Matt and Rachel discuss the state of their relationship using the tiles from the game. Although, the device is not all that original, the script’s “dialogue” is clever and the film’s smart pacing pulls an audience into the middle of the relationship like a nosy friend trying to decide who’s side to take.  Poots is perfect and Hoult does a good job, but it seems like he is trying  a little too hard. Rule Number Three makes the game interesting.
