The Rules of Attraction graduates from college flick to cult film.

The Rules of Attraction is an adaptation of a Bret Easton Ellis novel and probably the most honest interpretation of his work. Director Roger Avary presents the dark side of college life with a good-looking cast and a unique storytelling style that has contributed to the film’s continued success.  Everyday, young people make poor choices when it comes to life, love, and school, but this film takes it a step further to reveal the worst case scenarios of these decisions.

This is the kind of film that leaves audiences conflicted and uncomfortable in their skin because there are so many bad things that happen to these characters. Instead of, feeling sympathy for them, the impulse to see more is strong and a feeling of satisfaction makes a person feel a little “dirty” because the “cool” parts are not something people would want to happen to anyone in real life.
