Superbad is Supergood

5 Sep

In 2007, I will never forget walking out of theater after seeing Superbad and listening to adults say, “teenagers don’t talk like that”. I was a teenager then, and I wanted to tell them how clueless they were about their kids. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Superbad is one of the most raunchy and vulgar scripts teenage actors have ever spoken. The opening dialogue still is one of the dirtiest, but funniest conversations I have ever heard. Seth (Jonah Hill) and Evan (Michael Cera) are best friends in the last week of high school and try to impress their two crushes by promising them alcohol with their friend, Fogell aka McLovin (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) fake ID.

The film balances high school life with the absurd in a way that makes it believable, but also a lot of fun. As parents were denying the truth; we were spreading the word about the funniest movie we had ever seen.
